On behalf of the Mad Hatters Abbeyleix. We wish to remind everyone why we are still alive and well. As you will all know in March when we were born, We were approached by a wonderful, kind, generous and beautiful young woman who wanted to run a marathon and asked us if she could run under the Mad Hatters. That lady has since become a wonderful influence in my life whom I am so proud to say is now a great friend and support in everything Mad hatter related. This lady is the amazing Pamela Moran of Ego Boost, Abbeyleix. On Sunday 5th November 2017 she will make us all so proud as she takes to the streets of New York to run the Marathon. The Pratt and Walker family members who joined together to raise funds for the Irish Cancer Society and The Bone Marrow for Leukaemia trust wish her every blessing as she takes to the streets in aid of the Irish Cancer Society. I will be the one on the sidewalk with a heart bursting with pride as I watch her. Good luck Pamela and may the wind be at your back. ❤

David will be one of the members of Macalla na hÉireann, the 2017 Comhaltas Concert Tour of Ireland which commences Sunday 8th October and will visit 14 venues around the country. David is currently a student in the CIT Cork School of Music, and has previously represented Spink Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann and Laois Comhaltas in Fleadh Cheoil and many other events, including Siansa Gael Linn, Music Generation Laois, as well as performing classical music with the Laois School of Music and Royal Irish Academy of Music. The 2017 Tour will visit Laois on 13th October in the Dunamaise Arts Centre, and other events include Cultúrlann na hÉireann, Ccé Leixlip, CCÉ Tour - Gurteen, Co. Sligo, Omagh Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann, Comhaltas Dun Dealgan,Ennis, Sligo Institute of Technology, Claremorris, Ballincollig Comhaltas - Craobh Niall Ó Cathasaigh, Baile na nGall Kerry, Killedy Co Limerick, Brú Ború Cashel, and Clasac Theatre Clontarf. If you get the opportunity to travel to one of the concert locations, you will be assured of a fabulous evening of entertainment.

FACT OF THE DAY The beautiful Heywood Gardens were designed by Edwin Lutyens but did you know that the simple but effective planting was designed by the renowned Gertrude Jekyll who is held in high esteem by the gardening world and who has hugely influenced modern day landscaping. This photo may look familiar but is actually at Hestercombe in England. Have a look at other Lutyens/Jekyll gardens and you will see how historically important Heywood Gardens really are.
